Official Rules and Regulations
1. Entries received before June 1, 2008 will be guaranteed $200.
2. Entries received after June 1, 2008, will be guaranteed $100.
3. Competition will be limited to the first 20 entries.
4. Drivers must be 18 years of age and be able to show proof of age.
5. All drivers and pit crew members must sign liability waiver agreement.
6. Drivers must wear seat belt, helmet, long sleeve shirt, long pants and hand protection.
7. All combines must have a cab or roll cage and be two-wheel drive.
8. Combine must use a grain table (platform) that is fixed at 18″ from ground. Maximum platform width is 15'. Loss of platform will result in disqualification from the competition.
9. Combine grain table must have reel, guards, sickle and loose sheet metal removed. Combine ladder, unloading auger, choppers and glass must also be removed. Separator must be inoperable. Driver’s door must be welded or chained shut. Safety bars or shield, at least 36″ high, must be added to the front of the cab area for driver protection. A roll cage made of 2″ pipe must be added if there is no cab. Roll cages must be covered.
10. Participants may reinforce header to maintain 18″ header height. Iron reinforcement is limited to 2″ x 2″ x 1/4″ angle, channel or flat iron.
11. All combines to be originally manufactured (no reinforced parts of shields allowed) except as outlined in rule 9 and 10 above.
12. No corn heads.
13. No factor fuel tanks. Fuel tank may not be more than 5 gallons. Fuel tank must be mounted on top of combine (inside grain tank preferred0.
14. Batteries must be mounted on top of combine.
15. Tires may be filled with air only: no duels allowed; two-wheel drive only.
16. A stick must be mounted in the vicinity of the driver. The stick must be broken off when the driver is disqualified or unable to continue.
17. Combines must be on the fairground by 2 p.m. the day of the event.
18. During the competition no combine shall be raised more than 5′ off the ground.
19. No direct hits to the driver’s area.
20. 3 minute time limit to restart and make contact.
21. Combines may be decorated, painted or offer advertising. No profanity or obscene materials will be allowed. A trophy will be presented to “Best Decorated Combine”, as judged by spectators and Putnam County Agricultural Society Directors.
